Washington university
St. Louis, Mo
Washington University in St. Louis was designed by Cope and Stewardson Architects of Philadelphia to recall the great collegiate buildings of Oxford and Cambridge. The style they employed came to be known as American Collegiate Gothic. The master plan is composed of a series of quadrangles in a dynamic mixture of historic styles, similar to the stylistic blend that is intrinsic to the design of Oxford and Cambridge.
The new 30,000 square foot building for the engineering department was designed by Richard Cameron and Jason Grimes for Ariel, the Art of Building in collaboration with RMJM Architects if New York.
